DIY denim bag in three styles, trendy and eco-friendly. Sewing pattern for this bag includes the variations for slightly different sizes and the instructions are showing three different designs, all based on using old jeans: patchwork, plain and stripy:
Difficulty level – I’d say medium. Some sewing skills are required but the instructions are very detailed, so I am sure it is not too complicated. Plus there is a video for the confusing bit.

You will need:
To make this bag you will need some denim legs or scraps, two fat quarters of cotton for lining, zipper 50-55cm, something to make a strap. As you can imagine, this bag is a recycling project, so other things can be used. The tutorial has all necessary tips and tricks for troubleshooting and measurements, different strap options and so on.
I hope your sewing machine is strong enough — it will have to sew through a couple of tough places of layered denim. But I am sure you wouldn’t attempt sewing denim at all if your machine was the “light” type.
By the way, if you have an old hand-driven machine from grandma, you can use it! Those oldies go through almost any amount of layers no messing! I use one myself for the tough bits.
